Position Overview
Apollo is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Debt Trader for a crucial role on the Trading desk. The Associate will be responsible for managing risk, generating revenue, and providing liquidity to institutional clients, and requires 4-7 years of relevant experience, a deep understanding of fixed income markets, strong analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Responsibilities
- Market Making: Execute trades in various debt instruments, including IG corporates, high yield debt, structured products
- Risk Management: Proactively monitor and manage the risk associated with the trading book, utilizing hedging strategies and risk management tools.
- Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with institutional clients, providing them with market insights, trade ideas, and execution services.
- Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify trading opportunities and potential risks.
- Pricing and Valuation: Accurately price and value debt instruments, utilizing internal models and market data.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other traders, sales teams, research analysts, and structuring teams to maximize profitability and provide seamless client service.
- Compliance: Ensure all trading activities are compliant with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate trade records and provide regular reports on trading performance and risk exposure.
- Technology Utilization: Leverage trading platforms, analytical tools, and other technologies to enhance trading efficiency and decision-making.
Qualifications & Experience
- In-depth knowledge of fixed income markets, specifically IG corporates, high yield debt, structured products
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify market trends
- Risk management expertise - a proven ability to effectively manage risk and utilize hedging strategies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely to various audiences and cross-functional teams
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as thrive independently
- Strong business acumen with the ability to make sound judgments and decisions under pressure in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Proficient in using trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Trumid, Tradeweb, MarketAxess) and analytical tools
- Licenses: Series 7, 63, and other relevant licenses are required

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
