Position Overview
Apollo's Investment COO team is seeking a Product Owner to own and manage the firm’s Deal Lifecycle Management technology. This role will be responsible the entire scope of firmwide deal teams’ use-cases and workflows, and will focus on understanding, translating, roadmapping, and managing the implementation of business priorities into a premier technology instance for deal teams, as well as firm-wide strategy alignment.

The current focus of our technology solution is value-creation across all investment and business management processes – driving vision in how the solution is continually evolved to support and drive value to our deal teams.
As the Product Owner, you will oversee Apollo's large-scale utilization of front office CRM and deal pipeline platform for all investment business units. This involves coordinating with internal key stakeholders, including end-users, the technology support team, and external vendors, to manage tool priorities, design and manage roadmaps, plan sprint work, and provide expert insights into user stories and desired technology needs/solutions.
The Product Owner will also set and deliver on Apollo's strategic vision and roadmap while ensuring solutions align with the firm's broader technology initiatives. In collaboration with cross-functional COOs and business teams, you will set the strategy, drive alignment on the build, architecture and governance, and deliver outcomes that enable the strongest designed CRM platform for end-users.
This position requires previous experience as a Product Owner and/or demonstrated experience leading technology project management initiatives within the alternative asset industry. The successful candidate will possess exceptional business process analysis skills, an understanding of financial and investment concepts, and expertise in Deal Pipeline, CRM, and other relevant business process functionalities and workflows.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Product Ownership: Serve as the firm’s central resource responsible for successful upkeep of CRM, Pipeline and other business data and analysis.
    • Manage the entire instance across business needs, interface with end users and the technology team, prioritize and design product updates, and enhance the tool alongside the implementation of release updates.
  • Vision and Integration:
    • Spearhead the evolution of the CRM and Deal Management technology to be a strategic enabler of investment and business management processes.
    • Drive a visionary approach to integrate the technology into workflows, ensuring it delivers measurable value to investment teams and aligns with broader firm priorities.
  • Technology Design & Process: Leverage experience in optimizing tech tools to support Apollo’s firmwide instance across multiple asset classes:
    • Partner with all investment deal teams in regular dialogue to understand/develop ideal CRM priorities and enhancements (processes, technology, organization), driving strategy and a roadmap to enable business growth.
    • Lead the delivery of the tool strategy in collaboration with Technology - balancing the need for short-term improvements and longer-term value.
      • Focus on driving connectivity of data within the tool and across broader ACS technology platform.
  • Team Management
    • Manage affiliated work around the tool including overall priorities, sprints, and responsibilities.
  • Governance: Manage overall governance of the program including steering groups, process overviews, and updates on how the CRM tool should be used to ensure consistency across and within teams.
    • Uphold data standards within the tool and in conjunction with Apollo / Industry standards
  • Strategic Alignment:
    • Partner with senior leadership to define how CRM insights inform broader firmwide decisions, including capital deployment, market opportunities, and operational efficiencies.
  • Data Utilization:
    • Lead initiatives that leverage CRM data to identify emerging trends, refine investment strategies, and enhance client relationships.
  • Business Management: Liaise with key business stakeholders and external vendor services to manage and execute business management priorities
    • Lead business management activity - e.g., HR processes, business continuity planning, budget forecasts, vendor integration and negotiations
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience at an investment bank, consulting firm, asset manager, or similar
  • Minimum 7-10 years in a Product Strategy / Management role
  • Deep knowledge of financial and investing concepts, including deal metrics, products, and processes
  • Successful track record of leading technology initiatives within a Front Office environment
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with external vendors as well as front office senior management, investment professionals, COOs, and functions across Technology, Risk, Finance, Compliance, etc.
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive information and confidential situations
  • Ability to thrive in an evolving, faced-paced environment, both independently and in a collaborative team setting
  • Deadline-driven with exceptional prioritization, multi-tasking, and organizational abilities
  • Comfortability to function in and manage cross-functional teams, including excellent presentation, training, documentation, and computer skills
Technical Acumen
  • Experience driving end-user adoption by assisting in day-to-day support, including the management of system upgrades, releases, and change control processes
  • Expertise in solution selling techniques such as identifying the client pain points, defining a solution, and contributing to a project proposal
  • Demonstrated experience driving CRM roadmap and enhancements that meet strategic business goals
  • 5 years of SaaS Technical Support experience (or comparable customer service experience)
  • Tech-savvy with strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • General knowledge and understanding of APIs
  • Experience using professional software: Jira, Microsoft Teams, etc.
  • Strong experience with the design of conceptual architecture and technical solutions
  • Experience collaborating with a team to deliver large, complex technology projects
  • Develop and maintain automated system audits (reports, queries, rules) that ensure data integrity and accuracy (errors, duplicates, data privacy, etc.)
  • Extensive experience managing and leveraging large, diverse datasets to measure and enhance message effectiveness and user satisfaction
  • Skilled in analyzing, linking, and rationalizing data from both quantitative and qualitative perspectives across multiple applications
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large disparate data sets using quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Experience creating and meeting strategic goals and key performance indicators (KPIs)

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
