Scope of Position: The primary purpose of Activity Aide is to help the director with the assessment of resident abilities, limitations and preferences related to activities. He/she will assist in planning for and providing group and individual activities for the residents. There is also documentation, other record keeping, and attention to the environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Follow safety policies and procedures.
- Handle emergency situations in a calm, effective manner.
- Address and assist resident’s needs as they arise.
- Document and maintain accurate activity participation records.
- Be neat, clean, and appropriately dressed to present a professional appearance to residents and the public.
- Perform in a cooperative manner other related duties as directed by supervisor.
- Follow all written and verbal instructions given by the Activity Director.
- Have effective problem solving solutions and skills.
- Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
- Ability to train and motivate others.
- Organize and implement small and large group activities.
- Assess residents and participate with the Activity Director in formulating plan of care for each resident.
- Remind nursing staff of activities scheduled and residents who desire to participate.
- Assist with transportation of residents to activity area.
- Notify nursing department of resident's behaviors which may indicate medical concerns.
- Assist residents to display calendars, pictures, cards or other mementos in their rooms.
- Deliver and read mail as needed.
- Keep activity closets organized.
- Participate in and help promote staff and resident participation in facility wide special activities such as dress up days and special observances.
- Attend mandatory facility in-services.
