- The Maintenance Technician performs preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshoots, with minimal supervision, complex utility systems, which may include Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), steam boiler, electronic control systems, refrigeration, electrical, compressed air and gases, Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Ultrapure (WFI) water, and/or other biotech/pharmaceutical utilities and equipment items used in the manufacture of tablets, capsules, creams, gels and liquids. The Maintenance Technician also interprets drawings, layouts, wiring diagrams, and specifications in planning and performing maintenance and repairs. Involved in new equipment and plant systems installs as necessary. The Maintenance Technician participates in authoring accurate documentation for the operation and maintenance of various utility systems. They also supply information and technical data for securing spare parts. They are responsible for general facility up keep and provide responsive customer support with emphasis on customer satisfaction.
General Responsibilities / Functions:
- perform mechanical maintenance of cGMP production equipment and facility equipment that directly supports product development and commercial drug manufacturing.
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using measuring and testing instruments.
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
- Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop equipment.
- Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
- Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
- Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Must also be capable of solving most problems with minimum supervision.
- Skilled in the proper maintenance of mechanical seals, gaskets, pumps, agitators, compression machines, encapsulation machine, compactors, coating machines and other equipment used in the drug manufacturing process.
- Skilled in the proper maintenance of Facility & Utility related equipment such as HVAC, Dust collection system, Air compressor and Purified water system.
- Confined space entry trained.
- Experienced in LO/TO procedures.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Perform day-to-day work assigned safely and efficiently.
- Perform work safely in accordance with site safety policies and procedures.
- Perform maintenance in accordance with SOPs, manufacturer's recommendations and good maintenance practices.
QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE
Experience: Requires associates degree in a related field or industrial maintenance technology certificate and minimum of 3 years relevant mechanical equipment and facilities equipment experience in a FDA regulated industry. Previous knowledge of day-to-day facilities operations required; Creative problem solving, customer service, planning and influence skills required. Knowledge of GMP, FDA, and OSHA regulationspreferred. Skills/Qualifications: Computer skills (MS Office and computerized maintenance system); critical thinking; oral and written communications, decision-making skills.
