What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal position at Apothecarie?
Our client, Cohn & Swartzon is a professional and dynamic personal injury law firm located in Orange County, CA. They are looking to identify and hire an experienced Paralegal to join their rapidly growing firm. The qualified professional will work directly with attorneys from the beginning of a claim through conclusion. The ideal candidate must possess both pre-litigation and litigation experience.
The Paralegal will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Initial medical and case workup, reviewing medical records and preparing demand letters.
- Negotiating pre-litigation claim settlements with insurance companies.
- Negotiating medical bills with health care providers for case resolution.
- Understanding and negotiating med pay and health insurance liens.
- Preparing settlement breakdowns and disbursing settlement funds.
- Filing complaints and court documents prepared by attorneys.
- Preparing discovery responses (and some requests) while working directly with clients and attorneys.
- Calendaring court deadlines and appearances.
- Organizing files for trial and prepare trial binders.
Requirements:
- Candidate must have at least 3-7 years’ experience, with a combination of both pre-litigation and litigation experience.
- Familiar with common automobile related injuries, terminology and treatment.
- Must be familiar common litigation timelines and dates.
- Candidate must take pride in their work, be extremely detail oriented, have superior communication and time management skills, and require little substantive training.
