CLINIC SUPPORT SPECIALIST
REPORTS TO : Clinical Administrator
POSITION REQUIREMENTS : High School Diploma / GED required. CNA, PCA, or Medical Assistant certification required. Must have administrative and clinical experience in physician office, hospital or other healthcare facility setting. Must have excellent telephone / computer, communication, and interpersonal skills. Minimum one-year experience with geriatric population required.
SUMMARY : Perform variety of reception duties to include phone triage, greeting and assisting visitors, and taking care of packages received via mail. Provide clinical support in PACE clinic to include assisting with participant scheduling, supply management, maintaining equipment logs, and obtaining vital signs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Professionally greet and assist visitors entering facility.
- Receive / sign for packages received via mail delivery and dispense incoming mail to appropriate department or team member appropriately.
- Communicate effectively, professionally, and respectfully : answer phone calls and emails in timely manner and assist callers by providing information via phone or by directing phone calls to appropriate department or team member.
- Maintain equipment and maintenance logs appropriately and as indicated, including but not limited to refrigerator and freezer temperatures and clinical equipment such as AED, EKG, etc.
- Assist clinic team members in maintaining supply management to include ordering supplies, maintaining inventory logs, monitoring expiration dates, and organization.
- Assist clinic team members in retrieving participants from transportation, foyer area, ADC, and other departments and designating participants to appropriate clinical area.
- Obtain and document vital signs; communicate abnormal values to appropriate clinic staff.
- Assist clinic team members in completing ordered tasks within scope of practice.
- Schedule participant appointments based upon participant needs; communicate with PACE team regarding participant scheduling.
- Complete documentation appropriately, efficiently, and in timely manner.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA laws to ensure respect and privacy for all participants and staff.
- Attend trainings as required.
- Demonstrate professionalism, respect, positive interactions with others, and good work ethic.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
1. Current PCA, CNA, or Medical Assistant Certification
2. Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, etc.)
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
4. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
5. Strong organizational skills
6. Knowledge and understanding of basic medical terminology
7. Proactive and timely in completing tasks
