PATF’s mission is to provide education, advocacy, and financing opportunities for people with disabilities and older Pennsylvanians, helping them acquire assistive technology devices and services to improve their quality of life. PATF is Pennsylvania’s Alternative Financing Program (AFP) as designated by the Federal Assistive Technology Act, and a state-accredited and federally certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). PATF serves Pennsylvanians of all ages, incomes, and disability diagnoses. Since 1998, PATF has helped over 5,400 individuals finance assistive technology by extending more than $52 million in low-interest or no-interest loans. PATF’s office is in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.

Job Description:

The Program Director oversees a team of Information and Assistance professionals, identifies funding strategies for people with disabilities to be able to purchase assistive technology, and provides financial education to increase financial inclusion for people with disabilities. The Program Director will from time to time assist with identifying opportunities to increase funding for the programs within their portfolio.

This full-time position offers compensation between $80,000 and $90,000 depending on skills and experience, and it offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, a 403(b)-retirement plan, paid time off, and additional benefits. PATF has adopted a hybrid work policy. It is important that in-office needs are being met, but employees are able to work from home in a coordinated way that ensures there is coverage for in-office duties. Given the supervisory responsibilities of the Program Director, it is required that they will be available in-office at least three days each week, with days shifting to ensure face-to-face time with each member of the team.

Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

1. Information and Assistance for Funding Assistive Technology:

o Provide information and assistance to people with disabilities regarding the resources available to them, specifically the resources available to fund purchases of assistive technology.

o Review requests for information and assistance and loans received by PATF to ensure that our clients have the information they need to make informed decisions about how best to maximize their resources.

o Review and oversee regular updates of our funding guide and other resources materials.

o Host webinars, conduct workshops, and attend outreach events as necessary to promote Information and Assistance services.

2. Financial Education:

o Regularly review and update, or oversee the review and update of, PATF’s financial education curriculum, Cents and Sensibility: A Guide to Money Management, the Educator Companion Manual, the Family Companion, and StudyMoney.us.

o Stay up-to-date with current trends in financial education, state and federal K-12 standards and continuing education requirements, educational theory, pedagogy, as well as related issues and policy.

o Promote usage of PATF’s financial education materials through relationship management (in partnership with our Outreach and Marketing Director)

o Host webinars, conduct workshops, and attend outreach events as necessary to promote financial education services.

3. Supervision:

o Oversee the four-member Information and Assistance Team.

4. General

o As requested and with the aid of our Communications Director, provide content for our website, blog, newsletter, and other general publications.

o Assist with fundraising, in partnership with our CEO and Director of Strategic Initiatives, to support PATF programs.

5. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience or demonstrated ability to manage people.
  • Thorough, in-depth, and expert knowledge of the resources available to people with disabilities in Pennsylvania, especially resources for assistive technology.
  • Experience or demonstrated ability to work 1-on-1 with clients and lead others in doing so.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to groups of people.
  • Experience or demonstrated ability to design PowerPoints or other presentations and promotional materials like flyers.
  • Knowledge of financial education as evidenced by certifications, or a willingness and a demonstrated ability to acquire it.
  • Ability to report outputs, outcomes, and other information to comply with reporting requirements.
  • Ability to use data-management software.
  • Ability to use the entire Microsoft Office Suite and learn new software as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or demonstrated ability to interact with the public to promote the services of an organization.
  • Experience or demonstrated ability to deliver presentations to groups.
  • Experience or demonstrated ability to maintain informational materials to ensure they are engaging and up-to-date.
  • Experience or demonstrated ability to conduct webinars.
  • Experience or demonstrated ability to build and maintain organizational relationships

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Primarily works in standard office conditions.
  • May spend extended periods working at a desk and computer.
  • Some travel, mostly within Pennsylvania, is required.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
