What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phlebotomy Technician position at Appalachian Clinical Lab?
Responsibilities: - Perform blood sampling and collection from patients - Ensure proper identification of patients and labeling of samples - Follow established laboratory techniques and protocols for specimen handling and processing - Provide excellent patient service and care during the phlebotomy procedure - Maintain a clean and organized work area - Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures - Perform other labortory duties as assigned. Experience: - Previous experience as a Phlebotomy Technician or in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred - Familiarity with medical terminology and laboratory procedures - Knowledge of proper blood collection techniques and equipment - Ability to effectively communicate with patients and healthcare professionals - Strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen handling and labeling Skills: - Proficient in blood sampling techniques, including venipuncture and capillary puncture - Excellent patient service skills, with the ability to provide compassionate care during the phlebotomy process - Knowledge of medical terminology to accurately communicate with healthcare professionals - Familiarity with laboratory procedures and protocols for specimen handling and processing - Ability to perform vital signs measurements, such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature Please note that this job description is not exhaustive and additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
