What are the responsibilities and job description for the CST - Peer Support Specialist position at Appalachian Community Services?
PSS staff are in a unique position to teach and motivate others because they have learned to recognize triggers and early warning signs, counteract the negative impact of stress, and create plans for taking care of themselves. PSS staff bring with them a sense of understanding, trust and hope to help support and inspire recovery.
- Provide community-based service for adults age eighteen and older who have a mental illness or a substance abuse disorder.
- Provide scheduled activities that promote recovery, self-determination, self-advocacy, and enhancement of community living skills.
- Provide wellness education via teaching problem solving, anger management, and other life skills.
Compensation: $18.23 - $20.17 per hour, depending on experience and licensure. Mileage reimbursement.
