What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychologist position at Appalachian Community Services?
We are looking for a full-time Psychologist that administers and interprets standardized psychological tests to assess areas such as intelligence, personality, and emotional functioning, using results to inform individualized treatment tailored to each client’s psychological and behavioral goals. This process requires meticulous documentation of all testing procedures, results, and interpretations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with ethical and regulatory standards. The psychologist synthesizes findings into clear, detailed reports that support effective treatment planning and facilitate communication with multidisciplinary teams.
Job Duties
- Administer and Interpret Psychological Tests: Utilize standardized psychological tests and assessments to evaluate areas such as intelligence, aptitude, personality, and emotional functioning.
- Develop Treatment Plans: Collaborate with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to create individualized treatment plans that address specific psychological and behavioral goals.
- Document and Report Findings: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, progress notes, and other required reports in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Consult with Other Professionals: Engage in collaborative discussions with healthcare providers, social workers, educators, and other stakeholders to coordinate care and support holistic treatment.
- Provide Family Counseling and Education: Work with family members to enhance their understanding of the client’s needs and to develop strategies for effective support.
- Engage in Professional Development: Stay current on developments in the field by attending workshops, conferences, and training sessions, and incorporate new techniques and knowledge into practice.
- Maintain Ethical and Legal Standards: Adhere to all relevant ethical guidelines, privacy regulations (such as HIPAA), and professional codes of conduct in all aspects of practice.
