Compensation: $7,500 - $8,500
Camp Description
Three Mile Island Camp (TMI) is a rustic retreat owned by the Appalachian Mountain Club. For over 100 years, the camp has provided guests with an opportunity to leave hectic, technology-dependent lives for a vacation in natural surroundings. The camp is a 43-acre island located on New Hampshire’s Lake Winnipesaukee and is frequented by families, couples and individuals who stay one or two weeks in simple, lakeshore cabins or tents. Guest’s days are spent relaxing, swimming, sailing, canoeing, fishing, playing tennis, reading and talking with others. The facilities include: a main lodge, dock area, 51 lakeshore cabins and tents, outhouses and other buildings, boats and recreational equipment, and woods and walking paths. Three family-style meals are served daily. The camp is supported by a dedicated volunteer committee that provides management and operational oversight.
Position Summary
The Maintenance Manager at Three Mile Island oversees the maintenance, planning, and seasonal upkeep of the camp’s facilities as well as serves as a mentor to the camp’s crew. The island has 51 one-room wood cabins and several larger buildings including a boathouse, recreation hall, main house with kitchen and an office/store. The maintenance manager has 1 full-time assistant and other staff support as needed to perform facilities maintenance and instruction.
Primary Responsibilities
Maintenance, planning, and seasonal upkeep of the island’s buildings and facilities such as structural maintenance, painting, and staining.
Mentor/Instructor: Three Mile values personal and professional development. The crew should learn valuable skills and develop a strong work ethic. Instructing and mentoring 17-20-year-old crew members in carpentry, maintenance, tool safety, and professional conduct is an important facet of this position.

The salary is commensurate with experience. Room and board are provided. The Maintenance Manager enjoys 2 days off per week and membership in the Appalachian Mountain Club.
