Overview
The Mobile Clinic Driver is responsible for operating and maintaining a mobile healthcare vehicle, ensuring safe transport of medical staff and equipment to various community locations across Kentucky. This position involves working closely with the healthcare team to deliver high-quality care to underserved and rural communities, providing access to essential medical services through a mobile clinic.
Responsibilities
Vehicle Operation and Safety:
- Operate and drive the mobile clinic vehicle safely and efficiently across Kentucky, following all local, state, and federal traffic laws and regulations.
- Ensure that the vehicle is in compliance with the Kentucky Division of Motor Vehicle Enforcement (DMVE) regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and report any maintenance or safety issues to the Mobile Clinic Coordinator immediately.
- Ensure the mobile clinic is stocked and ready for each day’s route, including ensuring all medical supplies and equipment are secure.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of mileage, fuel use, and vehicle condition.
Patient and Staff Support:
- Assist the medical team by setting up and breaking down equipment before and after clinic visits.
- Provide basic customer service to patients, answering questions about clinic services and assisting in navigating the mobile clinic.
- Help maintain a clean and professional environment within the clinic, adhering to all Kentucky state health regulations regarding sanitation.
Route Management:
- Follow established routes and schedules to ensure timely arrivals at community-based sites.
- Adjust routes as necessary in coordination with the Mobile Clinic Coordinator, ensuring that communities in need are served.
- Report delays, incidents, or any issues that affect the clinic’s ability to deliver services on time.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Maintain open communication with the Mobile Clinic Coordinator, notifying them of any issues or concerns during the clinic’s operation.
- Work with clinic staff to ensure efficient service delivery and patient care.
- Document daily activities and provide reports on vehicle status, and any issues encountered during the shift.
Regulatory Compliance and Documentation:
- Adhere to all Kentucky state health and safety regulations, including those related to mobile healthcare services.
- Ensure that all required documentation is completed, including logs of vehicle operation, patient visits, and any incidents during the mobile clinic’s operation.
- Follow all applicable OSHA and CDC guidelines to ensure the health and safety of patients and staff.
Maintenance and Equipment Care:
- Ensure the mobile clinic vehicle is clean, well-maintained, and fully functional.
- Work with the Mobile Clinic Coordinator to schedule necessary vehicle repairs, inspections, and routine maintenance.
- Ensure that medical equipment and supplies are properly stored, organized, and transported safely.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid Kentucky Driver’s License with a clean driving record. A CDL Class B is required.
- CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Minimum 2 years of driving experience, preferably with large vehicles or mobile units.
· Experience in a healthcare setting, customer service, or working with medical professionals is a plus.
· Knowledge of Kentucky’s roadways and traffic laws.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
· Ability to maintain a safe and organized mobile healthcare environment.
· Basic mechanical knowledge or ability to troubleshoot vehicle issues is desirable.
· Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
