A. ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE: The Admissions Supervisor is accountable for directing and coordinating the admission of patients to the hospitals. B. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: The Admissions Supervisor reports to the Revenue Cycle Manager or designee. This position may supervisor admission clerks, office service clerks, and attendants. This position is in contact with patients, physicians, nurses, job applicants, insurance companies, police department, patients' families and visitors. C. MAJOR ACTIVITIES: Implements, interprets and maintains work standards and procedures that are in compliance with corporate and departmental policies, governmental regulations and various regulatory agency requirements. Assists in the development of these work standards and procedures. Supervises the employees in an efficient manner by planning, organizing, and monitoring all activities of the department to obtain maximize results. Assures that appropriate and accurate records are prepared on a timely basis. Makes recommendations for employment, promotion, disciplinary action, and termination of employment. Evaluates subordinates on a regular basis. Assures that employees receive orientation and in-service training. Supervises the registration and admitting of patients. Coordinates admitting procedures with activities of other departments. Directs information and communication services. Assists in determining the financial status, eligibility for credit and credit arrangements of patients. Maintains a current bed index. Coordinates transfer of patients between Nursing Units with Business Office and Nursing. Performs other duties as assigned. D. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: College degree with emphasis on psychology, sociology or business administration. Two (2) years supervisory or admission experience; OR Six (6) years of experience in an Admissions Department two of which should be in a hospital and at least one year supervisory experience. Ability to work and deal effectively and harmoniously with groups and individuals and must be familiar with usual office machines. E. POSITION PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess physical ability to endure prolonged sitting; moderate walking; lifting and carrying. May require exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently; and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. F. SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES: Accountable for the direction and supervision of the Admissions Department. Accountable for maintaining a reliable and efficient communicative function (telephone and switchboard operation and patient status information). Accountable for selecting, training, evaluating, and disciplining departmental employees. Accountable for insuring that arrangements for payment of hospital bill is made with the responsible party.Registrar PRN, Patient Access
