The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) provides essential support to licensed nursing staff in delivering safe, compassionate, and competent care to patients. - Compensation is commensurate upon education & experience - range is 16.75 /hour or more (depending on education & experience). Benefits begin the first of the month following 60 days of employment from the new hire orientation date. This position is a non-exempt position.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist licensed nurses in delivering safe and effective patient care within the scope of practice.
- Foster a respectful, dignified, and compassionate environment for patients, families, and staff.
- Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, physicians, and leadership to achieve quality outcomes.
- Adhere to ARHS policies, regulatory requirements, and standards of behavior to support patient safety and satisfaction.
- Support team members and assist in various clinical and non-clinical tasks as directed by licensed nurses.
Position Requirements
Minimum Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
- Previous experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
Required Registration/License/Certification:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required at hire).
- Current North Carolina CNA certification (preferred).
- CPI certification is required within one year of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with the scope of practice for Behavioral Health Technicians.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and team members.
- Competency in delivering safe patient care following hospital policies and procedures.
- Basic computer skills, including data entry and EMR usage.
- Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service and team collaboration.
Physical Demands
- Frequent lifting, positioning, and transferring of patients over 50 pounds.
- Prolonged standing, walking, and occasional sitting for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and the ability to perform repetitive hand, finger, and wrist movements.
- Regular bending, squatting, twisting, and reaching.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous materials.
- Risk of injury from electrical, mechanical, or power equipment.
- Frequent irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Continuous mobility and physical engagement for shifts lasting 8 hours.
