Position Summary Information
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in an assessment or measurement discipline, students affairs and higher education, data analytics, statistics, or related field
- Three years of experience in data collection, analysis, and communicating results to individuals with a broad range of competencies in assessment and measurement
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to actively listen and engage with staff at various levels across the division and institution
- Understanding of the assessment process in a higher education context
- Experience successfully managing multiple measurement projects simultaneously, ideally in a higher education setting
- Strong skills in qualitative and quantitative measurement and experience in survey design, data analysis, and statistical reporting are essential
- Strong writing and computer skills with the ability to summarize and present complex analysis of data to varied audiences and constituents
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned doctoral degree in an assessment or measurement discipline, students affairs and higher education, data analytics, statistics, or related field
- Professional experience in the field of student affairs
- Experience developing and leading the assessment efforts in a student affairs or academic affairs division
- Experience with data software packages, such as Tableau*, PowerBI, SPSS , SAS , R
- Experience with advanced Survey platforms, such as Qualtrics*, Baseline
- Experience with Anthology’s Engage* platform
- Experience with third-party functional area software packages, such as Fusion, Handshake, Maxient, Slate, or StarRez
- Heavily used in this role.
Data Warehouse
- Oversee the data architecture for the division with the Division of Student Affairs Data Warehouse, which includes how data is managed from collection to storage and transformation, working very closely with IT on the latter
- Work closely with departments on their administrative processes to balance data collection needs alongside unit-level operational needs
- Manage the Anthology Engage data architecture (e.g., branches, organizational types and categories, position templates, event categories)
- Build Tableau workbooks and dashboards that expedite access to high-quality data to inform decision-making and storytelling efforts
- Lead and implement a strategic measurement plan for the division by leveraging national studies (e.g., Skyfactor/Benchworks Campus Climate Survey, Skyfactor/Benchwork Functional-Area Surveys, Multi-Institutional Study of Leadership)
- Lead and implement local surveys, such as the Orientation, Welcome to App, App Experience Surveys to (a) study student needs, characteristics, satisfaction, and personal development and (b) provide requested information to students via email
- Regularly disaggregate data to examine how initiatives related to student success and wellbeing can be improved
- Lead the assessment process and support Assessment Fellows for the Divisional Educational Priorities , which guide the learning and development outcomes that can result from engaging in programs and services across the division
- Collaborate with the Program Director for the Student Affairs Administration Master’s program to have course projects support the advancement of student learning and development aims, goals, and outcomes in the division while providing graduate students strong learning opportunities. Serve as a primary point-of-contact to determine/understand the needs of the division as it relates to course projects.
- Coordinate the AES Continuous Improvement Reports and PCR process for every unit in the Division to comply with IRAP requirements for accreditation
- Serve as a resource person and mentor for Student Affairs staff as they develop their assessment and measurement skills, with a particular focus on identifying the appropriate measurement strategy
- Represent Student Affairs with University assessment initiatives, committees and workgroups, including serving as the Division’s day-to-day liaison to IRAP
