Essential Job Functions
The job of Cannon Music Camp Director has many responsibilities and is a year-round administrative commitment. Some of the duties are as follows :
- Provide leadership for over 250 campers and faculty during the three-week camp session
- Set the daily Camp schedule, assign teaching, plan curriculum and administrative duties
- Secure facilities (assign offices, classroom space, etc.)
- Administer a budget in excess of $400,000
- Set Camp prices for the following year
- Consult with Housing, Food Services, Conferences and Institutes, etc.
- Oversee contracts for faculty and staff
- Calculate faculty and staff salaries
- Oversee the awarding of scholarships, including personally evaluating the many online scholarship applications and developing a scholarship awards platform that will account for merit, financial need, and instrument / voice part enrollment that will ensure a strong musical experience for students in the camp.
- Interview and hire faculty and staff
- Fill positions not covered by HSOM faculty
- Select camp counseling staff through an application and interview process
- Interact with the various constituencies that are a part of the Camp :

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's in music education or related field from an accredited institution. Two years experience in music education / music summer camps and activities.
Work Schedule / Hours
Work schedule will vary. Work duties may be performed within University hours, Monday-Friday, 8 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM, and also during nights and weekends to meet the responsibilities of the position.
