This position reports to the Director of Tax and is primarily responsible for overseeing day-to-day tax operations, managing and supporting all aspects of corporate tax compliance, and reporting with key external and internal partners, including quarterly and annual consolidated income tax provisions and tax return filings, audits, business transactions, as well as compliance and cross-functional duties related to indirect taxes. The Senior Tax Manager will serve as a true partner to drive changes and add value to the organization.
Your impact
- Oversee all phases of the sales and use taxes, property taxes, and indirect tax functions, including compliance, related monthly financial reporting and reconciliations, and audits.
- Provide guidance and support to cross-functional groups including Sales, Billing, and Operations teams to to assess and address indirect tax implications for new product offerings and go-to-market strategies and resolve indirect tax issues.
- Maintain and manage the integration of tax engine software (Avalara) with the billing (Zuora) and ERP system (NetSuite), including overseeing tax code assignments for products and services.
- Manage income tax compliance processes, including the timely preparation and filing of all federal, state, and local tax returns with external tax advisors.
- Prepare quarterly federal and state estimated tax payments.
- Assist in annual R&D credit study and review of related analysis and documentation.
- Prepare and/or review the quarterly and annual tax provision calculations, including return-to-provision true-up analysis, uncertain tax position calculations, quarterly tax memorandum, income tax disclosures, and SOX controls and documentation.
- Support tax planning initiatives, including financial statement modeling, cash taxes and effect tax rate forecasts and business transaction impact assessments.
- Manage federal and state tax audits and notices strategically, advocating for the company's position and minimizing potential liabilities.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations and assist in assessing and coordinating potential impacts on the company.
- Assist in purchase accounting and integration of acquired companies in tax provision, compliance, processes, and systems.
- Mentor and train tax team members, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
- Complete other special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- 7 years of income tax compliance and financial reporting experience with a public accounting firm and/or corporate tax department.
- Technical knowledge of U.S. income tax matters, ASC 740 - Income Taxes and SEC disclosure standards, U.S. federal and state tax compliance, and relevant industry experience.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Experience managing a positive relationship with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Proven success in improving income tax accounting processes and driving efficiencies.
- Proficient with Excel and Microsoft Office applications, Alteryx, CCH, and Bloomberg research tools.
- Experience with NetSuite and Avalara is highly desirable.
- Experience in the high technology industry is preferred.
Must have
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s in Taxation and/or CPA preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and communicate findings in a precise and simple manner.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivation with high standards of integrity, ethics, and accountability.
Compensation & Benefits
The base salary that we reasonably expect to pay for this role is: $152,000 to $190,000.
The actual base salary for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s skills, education, experience, etc.
Please note that base pay is one important aspect of a compelling Total Rewards package. The base pay range indicated here does not include any additional benefits or bonuses/commissions that you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
