What are the responsibilities and job description for the Malware Analyst position at AppGate?
We’re looking for a highly skilled Senior Malware Analyst to join our team and help defend against sophisticated cyber attacks. In this role, you’ll analyze malicious code, develop analysis tools, and work with a team of security professionals to protect critical systems. We need someone with deep expertise in malware behavior, threat intelligence, and reverse engineering—an analytical thinker who takes initiative, owns their work, and is driven to stay ahead of emerging threats.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Create specialized materials related to malware and phishing, such as analysis reports, technical documents, training, webinars, and blog posts
- Provide detailed documentation on malware and phishing behaviour, techniques, and Indicators of Compromise (IOCs) from analysis results and/or research, within a ticketing system and the expected deliverable
- Evaluate threats identified within a binary, based on analysis, notify or advise accordingly
- Create tools or systems to improve malware detection, identification, and correlation capabilities
- Design, deploy and integrate secure malware analysis environments for Immunity and Appgate's global products and services
- Actively support the development and management of Immunity's malware analysis platform
- Handle service requests within SOP guidelines and comply with customer Service Level Agreement (SLAs)
- Collaborate and actively communicate with team members on projects, services, and integration efforts
- Interact with clients at a technical level, when necessary
- Stay up to date on the latest news and security updates and all malware-related topics
- Serve as a point of contact throughout a malware analysis case life-cycle. This may consist of; acknowledgement of receipt of analysis requests, brief customer reports, research, manual analysis, request for additional resources if necessary and providing deliverable
- Make periodic reviews of services to find points of improvement
- Provide guidance to Malware analysts and Jr Malware Analyst on daily tasks and help them grow in their career plan
- Collaborate with the team and global Appgate members on projects, services, and integration efforts
- Keep team systems updated according to the team's needs and assign tasks to other analysts to achieve this objective.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related degrees; or 4 years of experience in reverse engineering; or GREM certification
- English and Spanish is required
- 4 years of Malware Analyst experience at the senior level
- Minimum of 3 years of technical writing and report generation
