The Apple Silicon GPU compiler team is seeking a motivated individual to manage and lead the Pre-Silicon compiler backend team. In this role, you will oversee a group of engineers responsible for designing and implementing the compiler backend for upcoming Apple GPUs. The efforts of your team will play a pivotal role in optimizing and enhancing the performance of both graphics, compute and machine learning workloads. In addition to collaborating with software teams, you will work cross-functionally with hardware teams to help design and architect the next generation of GPUs. The compiler backend developed by your team will be integrated into all Apple devices including iPhone, iPads, Apple TV, Apple Watch and Macs.

Description
The GPU Pre-Silicon compiler team has a proven track record of designing and delivering the best in class LLVM-based compiler backend for Apple Silicon GPUs. As the manager of this team, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and tracking the team’s deliverables. You will operate both tactically and strategically—developing a clear vision, offering technical feedback, and setting the direction for the team. Additionally, you will foster and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with our hardware and software partners. You will also oversee hiring, mentoring, and the growth of a high-performing team.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in managing a software team in a fast-paced capacity
- 5 years of experience in a software engineering role
- Experience with compiler design, optimizations, performance
- Knowledge of GPU architecture, memory model and low-level systems software
- Experience with recruiting, mentoring and developing a team
Key Qualifications

- Hands-on experience developing LLVM-based compiler backends
- Experience with instruction selection, instruction schedulers and register allocators for CPU or GPU compiler backends

- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $219,300 and $378,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
