The Silicon Development Team within the Graphics, Games, and Machine Learning
(GGML) software group is seeking for an engineer who will work with hardware and
software engineering groups to shape the architecture of Apple's future products. You
will be building and applying technology that allows models of advanced graphics,
media and machine learning use cases to be captured, analyzed, modeled and

Description
As a member of the Silicon Development Team, you will be responsible for:
• Developing use case models, hardware models, and associated tools used to
test the viability of future products.
• Careful analysis and validation of important use cases with respect to power
and performance goals.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams including product, hardware
architecture, software driver, firmware, frameworks and application teams, to
define a vision for future products and present simulation results.
• Helping to define technical requirements of Apple's future products.
• Learning about the state of the art in mobile System-on-Chip (SoC) and chip-
level architecture.
Minimum Qualifications
- Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical field.
- Possess strong interest in the modeling, simulation and analysis of computer
- systems.
- Extensive knowledge in computer architecture, software engineering,
- performance modeling, and SoC microarchitecture.
- Expert level grasp of at least 1 modern programming language: Python, Go, Java,
- etc.
- Strong analytical skills to work on ill-defined and challenging issues.
- Ability to work optimally in a highly collaborative environment.

- Excellent communication skills required to interact cross functionally with
- members from software and hardware teams.
- Creativity and curiosity about how things work beyond the classroom. Examples
- of projects brought to completion. Ability to study a problem in depth and
- independently design experiments, analyze data, and present results.
- You are results-oriented, upbeat and focused with a strong passion to learn and
- succeed.
- A PhD, equivalent research degree or practical experience in Computer Science,
- Computer Engineering or related areas.
- Familiarity with AI networks for example CNN, transformer and diffusion model
- architectures and their performance characteristics.
- Demonstrated experience with modeling and system performance analysis.
- Demonstrated leadership on cross-functional projects across HW, SW or
- Silicon.
- High tolerance for ambiguity. You find a way through. You anticipate. You
- connect and synthesize.
- Demonstrated experience in cultivating stakeholder relationships and
- influencing decisions with data.

- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
