What Youll Do
The Receiver position is responsible for the safe and efficient handling of inventory that is delivered to the travel plaza(s). This role supports the operation of the travel plaza by monitoring stock levels and organization, validating the accuracy of deliveries, and following essential inventory management control methods. This position ensures that delivered goods are received, inspected, and stored in the appropriate stock room, refrigerator, or freezer.
- Confirming the invoice or purchase order matches the goods being received.
- Unloading and stocking the goods from the delivery vehicle while safely utilizing equipment such as hand trucks and pallet jackets.
- Ensuring all items received are not damaged or expired.
- Checking the temperature of refrigerated and frozen products to ensure they are within the acceptable temperature ranges.
- Sorting and stocking all the received goods in the appropriate stock room, refrigerator, and/or freezer.
- Following proper shelf-to-sheet and first-in-first-out (FIFO) inventory management methods.
- Notifying management or the vendor when a product is missing from the delivery; if it is damaged or out of temperature; and/or if incorrect goods are delivered.
- Alerting the appropriate member of management if there are product shortages or overages.
- Utilizing and completing any necessary paperwork or data submission via paper forms or inventory management software.
- Maintaining neat, clean, and organized stock rooms, refrigerators, and freezers.
- Transport goods around the travel plaza as needed.
- Assists with other duties as assigned.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Demonstrates the ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing manner.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Requires knowledge of inventory management and receiving methods.
- Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers and vendors.
- equires the ability to read and analyze invoices/purchase orders, as well as converse comfortably with delivery drivers, vendors, and coworkers.
Requirements
- Able to stand and walk for an extended period of time.
- Ability to traverse all parts of the plaza.
- Prolonged periods standing and walking around the plaza.
- Frequently bend, twist, lift and carry at least 40 pounds.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs, occasionally lift up to 100lbs.
- Available to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation.
