Chief Estimator
Location : Richmond, VA | Salary : $150K | Relocation Assistance Available
We are seeking a Chief Estimator with extensive experience in commercial exterior construction (multi-family, hotels, retail) to lead our estimating and purchasing teams. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of siding materials, particularly Hardie products , and be highly proficient in software programs, with Excel being a must.

About the Role
As Chief Estimator, you will oversee all estimating and procurement processes while leading a talented team. Your role will be crucial in developing best practices, influencing supplier pricing and incentive programs, and driving our overall Get Work strategies . You will be responsible for ensuring estimates are completed accurately, on time, and within targeted profitability expectations . Additionally, you’ll work closely with Field Operations to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and implement best practice methods for estimating and procurement.
- Oversee the entire bid process, from invitation to bid to final submission .
- Manage and mentor a team of estimators, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all proposals.
- Analyze past project performance to refine estimating standards and improve future accuracy.
- Work closely with suppliers and subcontractors to optimize material pricing and delivery schedules.
- Conduct value engineering assessments to find cost-effective solutions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction cost trends, materials, and labor rates .
- Ensure continuous feedback loops between estimating and project execution teams.
- Identify risks and proactively address them.
- Develop and present detailed cost estimates for a variety of commercial projects.
