Position Summary:
- Patient Access Representative staff are responsible for answering incoming phone calls, taking messages, scheduling appointments, blocking/opening provider schedules, registering patients for clinic and outreach appointments, communicating with nursing, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed, checking patient insurances, answering patient questions, explaining appointment processes to patients, and completing other duties as assigned. Patient Access staff must possess: excellent customer service skills, professional and helpful phone etiquette, the ability to remain calm and helpful under pressure and during emergency situations, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multitask.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answer incoming calls to the facility and direct call correctly
- Schedule appointments as requested by patients or staff for clinic, lab, radiology, and outreach providers
- Register all patients and complete check in process at each visit and update information
- Make changes to provider schedules as requested by Clinic Manager
- Monitor provider schedules to ensure all scheduling is correct
- Make reminder phone calls when needed
- Send out telehealth appointment emails to patients
- Collect payments when due at time of visit
- Verify insurance coverage
- Ensure patients are given appropriate forms upon check in
- Announce weather alerts according to AAH policy
- Perform other duties as assigned
Standard Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- One to three months of experience in a related field, or a combination of education and experience
- Medical Assistant education, medical terminology, and clinic and/or hospital experience are preferred, but not required
- Must be proficient with computers and possess adequate typing skills
- Must possess professional phone etiquette and have excellent customer service skills
- Must possess the ability to read and interpret written material such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy & procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; effectively communicate with patients and staff

- Teamwork is essential and good working relationships with other departments is crucial
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $24.65 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
