Position Overview:
The General Superintendent / Director of Field Operations will provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for all field activities across multiple construction projects. This individual will ensure the successful execution of projects by managing field staff, maintaining safety standards, and optimizing construction processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy civil construction, particularly in roads, highways, and bridges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee field operations for multiple road, highway, and bridge projects across Pennsylvania.
- Provide leadership and direction to Superintendents, Foremen, and field staff to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Develop and implement construction plans, schedules, and strategies to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and industry regulations across all job sites.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align field operations with project goals.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress, resolve challenges, and ensure compliance with contract specifications.
- Mentor and develop field personnel, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Manage and allocate resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, to optimize performance.
- Participate in project planning, pre-construction meetings, and post-project evaluations.
Qualifications:
- 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction with a focus on roads, highways, and bridges.
- Proven experience in a senior field leadership role (General Superintendent, Director of Field Operations, or similar).
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and equipment related to civil infrastructure.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and commitment to job site safety.
- Proficiency in project scheduling software and field reporting tools.
- Willingness to travel across Pennsylvania.
