We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee and optimize dairy production operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient processing, maintaining high-quality standards, and leading a production team in a fast-paced dairy manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Management:
- Oversee daily production operations, including milk processing, cheese/yogurt/butter production, or other dairy products.
- Ensure adherence to production schedules, optimizing output while minimizing waste.
- Monitor equipment and facility operations to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency.
Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure all dairy products meet USDA, FDA, and state regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to uphold Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines.
- Conduct routine inspections and audits to maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
Team Leadership & Training:
- Supervise, train, and motivate production staff to achieve performance goals.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement employee training programs for skill enhancement.
Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination:
- Work with procurement and logistics teams to manage raw materials, packaging, and inventory levels.
- Optimize resource utilization and minimize production downtime.
- Track and report on key production metrics such as yield, efficiency, and costs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Business Management, or a related field preferred.
- 5 years of experience in dairy processing or food manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of dairy production processes, pasteurization, and packaging operations.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance (USDA, FDA, SQF, HACCP).
- Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and production planning software is a plus.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in a cold and humid environment.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs if required.
- Availability for shift work, weekends, or extended hours as necessary.
