Title: Student Recruitment, Enrollment and Engagement Coordinator Exemption Status: Exempt
Reports to: Director of Student Recruitment and Enrollment Location: Washington, DC
About AppleTree
AppleTree’s mission is to close the achievement gap before students get to kindergarten. To accomplish this mission, we focus exclusively on Pre-K education. We provide free, full-day public charter school programming for three- and four-year olds in 13 locations across Washington, DC, employing our innovative and award-winning instructional model, called Every Child Ready (ECR). This instructional model provides educators with tools and resources for “What to Teach”, “How to Teach” and “How to Measure Success.” Our instructional model is also used with partners across the nation. We continuously test and improve this model through feedback from AppleTree educators, partners and other stakeholders to ensure that children are learning and exploring through play and appropriate instruction.
Community Engagement and Student Recruitment (60%)
Serve as Family Point of Contact from admissions application through audit count day
Plan and execute at least one recruitment event or activity a month. Events often take place on weekends and evenings
Document activities and events in Salesforce and report trends to the Recruitment and Enrollment Team
Create communications (flyers, Dojo post, etc.) for engagements
Share monthly network wide content that will include relevant news, upcoming events, and parent best practices with school level personnel
Support with recruitment communications with interested families and applicants, including email, voicemail, website, and social media
Engage with prospective students and parents, and providing excellent customer service
Provide telephone, email, and in-person support for applicant families.
Be knowledgeable of family activities and events taking place in Washington DC that would serve as an opportunity to share the mission and vision of AppleTree Schools.
Speak to AppleTree’s enrollment process as well as guide families through the MSDC lottery process
Manage outreach initiatives to increase student enrollment, strengthen community partnerships, and offer families new opportunities for involvement in the school community
Cultivate external partnerships with local businesses, non-profit organizations, and neighborhood groups to support and strengthen the specified schools ties to the local community
School Engagement (30%)
Partner with Principals and Operation Specialists to provide planning and support around engagement and events that support building school community
Support schools planned tours, EdFest booth, information sessions and open houses
Secure and manage extracurricular activities for schools to support student recruitment and retention
Build and maintain relationships with parents, teachers, administrators and community members.
Develop and distribute internal and external communications and expand the schools social media presence specific to the campus assignment
Lead and assist with the planning, coordination and, execution of school events, campaigns, and school initiatives
Organize and coordinate parent volunteers and Parent groups
Family Support (10%)
Collaborate with Social Work team to identify family needs and community resources in order to coordinate supports at the school to meet those needs
Collaborate with Principal to create an experience for Parent Teacher Conferences
Assist in conducting home visits
Help onboard new families to school values and policies during orientation
What we’re looking for…
Bachelor’s degree a plus
1-3 yrs of professional work experience in sales, business development, recruitment-related functions, customer engagement or campaign operations in a business non-profit, education, community engagement or advocacy organization
A passion for AppleTree’s mission to close the achievement gap and strong ability to share information about AppleTree’s programs, services and value proposition
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and cultural competency skills including the ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations
Ability to work in a team as well as follow through independently to complete tasks as required
Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail
A positive and energetic attitude when talking to potential families
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Work, Excel, Powerpoint) and/or Google applications (Sheets, Docs, Slides, Google Drive) with the ability to learn new technologies (CRM - Salesforce, video conferencing, etc.)
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality where required and discretion when involved in sensitive conversations
Ability to engage families in dialogue about AppleTree schools
Flexible and willing to work evenings and weekends
Current/Former AppleTree families are encouraged to apply
Familiarity with DC Metro Region, highly preferred; Residents of Wards 7 and 8 encouraged to apply
Bilingual candidates, proficient in speaking, reading and writing in other languages encouraged to apply
