What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education MoCI Teacher Assistant position at Appleview Elementary?
Must meet district Teacher Assistant (TA) requirements
High school diploma or equivalent;
Highly Qualified status as required by No Child Left Behind and the Individuals with Disabilities Act—Associate’s Degree or have scored at least a 4 in math or reading, and a 3 or better in writing on the WorkKeys test.
Ability to be responsible for all student self-care including mobility in a wheelchair;
Ability to physically attend to student needs, including personal care, diapering, transfers to and from wheelchair, tube feeding, medication administration (oral, rectal and through gastric tube), augmentative communication, assistive technology devices and wheelchair mobility;
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability and willingness to perform recess monitoring, bus unloading, and lunchroom supervision, as necessary;
Ability to be flexible with varying student needs and schedule changes;
Effective communication skills with a variety of staff members;
Ability to work with children in a caring, nurturing manner;
Demonstrates flexibility, teamwork and organization;
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality;
