Hardscape Sales/Material Handler
Reports To: Garden Center Manager Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt
Type: Seasonal
Purpose: Hardscape Sales/Material Handler team member is responsible for working in hardscape department. Ensuring tidiness and organization in that area. Assist customers with installation and production selection of hardgoods. Also responsible for assisting with restocking throughout the entire nursery. Assist in keeping retail areas clean and organized for customers. This position will also assist in unloading product being delivered to the nursery as well as assisting in loading products to leave the nursery. Hourly starting pay rate is based on prior experience.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for assisting customers in the selection of hardscape and landscape materials.
- Have a strong knowledge base of our products and services to be able to assist with customer requests and questions.
- Keep hardscape yard neat and organized including: re-palletizing materials, stocking products, assist in miscellaneous projects throughout the entire yard, etc.
- Weighing sold product if necessary.
- Ability to operate forklift.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of landscape materials including but not limited to block, natural stone, edging, etc.
- Assist in pulling orders for retail and wholesale customers.
- Lift 100 lbs. as needed.
- Complete physical inventory on all hardscape and landscape products on a regular basis.
- Must be able to provide a positive attitude when working with customers and co-workers.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
- Strong work ethic.
- Positive attitude.
- Attention to detail and ability to work quickly and accurately.
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions and weekends.
- Ability to run a forklift, skid steer and/or front end loader.
- Demonstrate superb customer service skills.
- Extensive knowledge of bulk and landscape materials, and knowledge of design and installation of products is preferred but not required.
- Two- year Landscape Design Degree or two years’ experience in field designing and installing is preferred but not required.
