What are the responsibilities and job description for the Drafter/Designer position at Applied Companies?
JOB SUMMARY
Southern California small business manufacturer of Environmental Control Units (ECU’s), and Pressure Vessels for tactical military systems seeks a Drafter/Designer that is detail oriented, can multi-task and has excellent drafting skills for a full-time position.
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create 3D models and drawings to assist Engineers in developing product designs
- Process engineering changes and drawing updates using quality procedures
- Take measurements from prototypes and create engineering drawings
- Create product concept views to support technical proposals
- Assist in creating and publishing product technical manuals
- Collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality departments for design requirements, manufacturability and quality standards
- Create and update Bill of Materials (BOM)
REQUIREMENTS
- Proficient in CAD drafting with SolidWorks
- Experience with sheet-metal part design and packaging of system components
- Experience with SolidWorks Sheet metal & weldments tools preferre
- Experience with design of complex assemblies
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or Draftsight software
- Understanding of, and ability to use, ASME drafting standards
- Familiarization with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Familiarization with welding symbols a plus
- Organized individual, capable of handling a heavy workload with minimal supervision
- Good oral and written communication skills; Must be able to read, write & understand English
- Problem solving skills with ability to troubleshoot design issues and develop practical solutions
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Stable, reliable, low absenteeism record and willing to work overtime
- Completion of college drafting courses, CAD certification or equivalent work experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Design, Engineering, or related field preferred * Eagerness to learn
MANDATORY - US citizen or permanent resident (Green Card holders) due to Government ITAR regulations.
