Job Accountabilities :
- Lay-up of composite materials onto molds and structures, ensuring proper layering sequences and material orientation for structural integrity and performance.
- Follow specific layering patterns and sequences to ensure the integrity and quality of the composite parts.
- Prepare and handle various composite materials, including cutting, trimming, and shaping reinforcement fabrics, ensuring they meet required specifications.
- Expertly apply resin to composite to ensure thorough saturation and bonding.
- Prepare molds by applying release agents, inspecting for defects, and ensuring they are clean and ready for the lay-up process.
- Use basic shop math skills to record information such as freezer out-time and mixture weights
- Occasionally mix resins and catalysts as specified
- Perform physical and environmental checks and document work onto manufacturing travelers
- Vacuum bag parts applying best-practices, ensuring that the vacuum bags do not leak during cure
- Assist in preparing molds by cleaning, waxing, or applying release agents to ensure smooth release after curing.
- Identify and resolve issues in the lay-up process, including material defects, environmental factors, or equipment malfunctions.
- Collaborate with production managers, supervisors, and engineers to improve manufacturing processes, optimize efficiency, and reduce waste while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, including material usage, time logs, and any issues encountered.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safety and efficiency.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols, including the proper handling and disposal of chemicals and materials.
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Job Specifications :
Education : A Secondary Certificate / High School Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations. Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience required.
