Applied Composites (AC) is seeking a Controller who will be working under the Chief Financial Officer. The Controller oversees the Financial and Accounting Department and manages the business financial reporting, budgets, and internal control processes. Partners with senior management in defining the global Finance and Accounting strategic plan. Ensures financial business processes are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and / or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), including GAAP accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecast preparation.

Job Accountabilities :

  • Partners with other senior management in defining the global Finance and Accounting strategic plan, while ensuring the maximization of the company's financial performance
  • Manages all accounting operations, while monitoring costs and capital expenditure
  • Ensures timely and complete financial statements and oversees the preparation of the corporate annual report
  • Accurately reports the financial results and financial statements of the organization's operations in accordance with Generally Accepted Principles (GAAP) and / or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Manages the financial reporting, budgets, and internal processes
  • Directs the preparation of the budget, financial forecasts, and report variances
  • Annual preparation of the company budget
  • Analysis of financial results compared with budget, prior year, and prior month
  • Develops business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Prepares reports which summarize and forecast business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations
  • Provides financial analyses, for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Gathers and analyzes data to inform commercial pricing decisions; validates accuracy and integrity to ensure competitive proposals and pricing decisions
  • Responsible for the company audit and provision of information to external auditors
  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
  • Maintain effective internal controls, accounting procedures, and processes
  • Responsible for cash management
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis
  • Advises management in interpreting and utilizing managerial accounting information
  • Manage staff selection, interviewing, selecting of qualified candidates, training and staff development to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations
  • Responsible for hiring and terminating subordinate employees (or effectively recommending such decisions). Handling employee complaints and grievances; staff mentoring, coaching, counseling, disciplining employees; assigning work among employees; and providing for the safety and security of the employees
  • Directing employees' work and establishing and adjust hours of work as needed
  • Establishes priorities and workflow within the department; identifies root cause, conducts analysis, and resolves issues with appropriate resources departments and / or action plans
  • Provides staff with standards of performance, job responsibilities, and job expectations
  • Conducts staff meetings to ensure policies and procedures are adhered to and enforced, and when necessary, modified to address changing strategic objectives
  • Maintain records for use in supervision; appraising employees' productivity standards and efficiency for recommending promotions or other changes in status
  • Ensures appropriate management of department staff, including timely completion of performance appraisals and corrective counseling, when appropriate
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Job Specifications :

Education : Bachelor's degree in Accounting and / or Finance required.

Years Experience : Requires seven (7) years' recent relevant experience and three (3) years of experience in a managerial role in a finance environment required.

Skills :

  • Possesses advanced knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, and analysis; acquired through work experience in increasingly complex roles.
  • Ability to define and execute a Finance and Accounting strategic plan to ensure the maximization of the company's financial performance.
  • Ability to anticipate internal or external business challenges / regulatory issues and make recommendations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, oral communication, presentation, and facilitator skills with the ability to negotiate, influence and interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization exercising sensitivity to the audience.
  • Possesses a positive professional image and a high level of ethical behavior in exercising consistent judgment, discretion, and confidentiality in all interactions and matters of significance.
  • Possesses excellent judgment, critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues in a timely manner.

  • Ability to work independently and negotiate and set priorities required.
  • Ability to work efficiently under conditions of multiple and / or completing projects / deadlines prioritizing / reprioritizing as needed to meet departmental and / or business commitments and objectives.
  • Possesses a high degree of personal accountability
  • Ability to travel to all Applied Composites locations and / or client locations as needed
