The 508 Web Accessibility Specialist in the 508 Compliance Department at Applied Development ensures that all digital content complies with accessibility standards, including Section 508, ADA, and WCAG 2.2. This role focuses on auditing websites, remediating documents, and testing content for accessibility using tools like Adobe Acrobat, Common Look, and screen readers such as JAWS and NVDA. The purpose of this position is to eliminate accessibility barriers, ensuring equitable access for individuals with disabilities and maintaining federal compliance. The specialist collaborates with internal teams to create inclusive digital experiences and must be eligible to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) due to the nature of the work involving secure information.
508 Web Accessibility Specialist - 508 Compliance Department
Document Remediation : Perform remediation of PDFs and other digital documents to ensure compliance with ADA, Section 508, and WCAG 2.2 guidelines using Adobe Acrobat and Common Look.
Graphic Design Accessibility : Utilize Adobe Photoshop or similar graphic design software to ensure that visual materials are accessible to users with disabilities.
Accessibility Audits : Analyze and audit websites and digital content for accessibility compliance, providing detailed reports and recommendations for remediation.
Screen Reader Testing : Test digital documents and web content using screen reading technologies like JAWS and NVDA to ensure functionality and compliance.
Collaboration & Reporting : Collaborate with teams to ensure accessibility standards are integrated into projects and provide comprehensive accessibility reports and updates.
Training & Support : Provide training and support to team members on accessibility best practices, document remediation, and the use of accessibility tools.
Secure Information Handling : Handle secure and sensitive information, ensuring adherence to security requirements and eligibility for obtaining a Common Access Card (CAC).
Requirements : Education :
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
