Applied Ecology LLC is hiring for the position of:
Restoration Forestry Program Manager
Full time - 40hrs
Flexible Schedule/Self Directed
Multiple Job Sites Throughout Washington State
Compensation:
- $25-28/hr (approximate - includes hourly rate, overtime, travel stipend)

Responsibilities:
- Working in a team or working alone to implement tree canopy renovation, forest health prescription and habitat development across multiple projects statewide (WA).
- Operation and field maintenance of chainsaws, tow behind chippers, light rigging, and herbicide application equipment.
- On-site quality control and enforcement of standards.
- Reading and interpreting detailed, and varied scopes of work, forest health Rx and clearly communicating information to crews of 2-6 people.
- Ability to track multiple tasks with a strong sense of ownership, follow through and communication.
- Communication with Project managers and landowners regarding logistical priorities, workflow, crew dynamics and team needs.
- Supporting positive team dynamic and timely work completion.
- Able to navigate and use hand-held mobile technology to access scopes, maps, and other relevant data in the field and locate one’s self, property boundaries and landmarks using online and/or paper maps.
- Willingness to work in remote/austere environments for multiple days per month, year round.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for forestry/saw work in demanding environments.
- A minimum of 2 years experience in silvicultural practices, habitat forestry, wildlands firefighting or arborist fieldwork.
- Strong PNW native and invasive tree identification skills and an understanding of individual species attributes and habitat
- Functional knowledge of small engine equipment, herbicide application equipment and Chainsaw operation/safety.
- Washington State Driver License and clean driving record.
- Ability to hitch/unhitch and maneuver trailers and other tow behind equipment.
- WSDA pesticide license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of hire
- Ability to interpret complex directions and apply them to multiple tasks on multiple sites.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. 1/2 mile over extremely rough terrain in all weather conditions.
- Precision tree faller certified - Level 1&2 (preferred but willing to train.)
- Clear/concise verbal and written communication style
