Description: Applied Inspection Systems, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Advanced NDT Specialist to join our team at our Advanced Technology Center in Charlotte, NC. This role involves both laboratory-based technique development and field support for ongoing projects. AIS is looking for an individual who is eager to grow within the company and contribute to our ongoing success. Will be required to report to the Charlotte office daily when not working a field job.
Responsibilities:
- Travel will be required to support both field and lab operations, including the analysis and supervision of PAUT and general surface technicians.
- Conduct Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) on a wide range of materials and components.
- Assist in the development of new PAUT procedures and techniques.
- Perform online analysis of PAUT scans, ensuring accuracy and quality.
- Conduct Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) as required.
- Interpret and evaluate test results according to relevant standards and specifications.
- Prepare detailed and accurate inspection reports, maintaining thorough documentation of findings.
- Ensure all testing equipment is properly calibrated and maintained according to industry standards.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and procedures.
- Collaborate with clients and team members to ensure project objectives are met effectively.
- Participate in the development and application of scanning techniques to meet specific client needs.
- Familiarity with Gekko, Sonatest Veo, and Evident instrumentation is desirable but not mandatory.
- Carry out field trials of new techniques developed in the laboratory with the ability to communicate positive and/or negative results with clients.
Qualifications:
- Certified to Level II in Phased Array UT in accordance with ASNT TC-1A or equivalent.
- Ability to gain access to restricted job sites such as nuclear power plants, military facilities, or research labs.
- Additional certifications in Magnetic Testing (MT), Penetrant Testing (PT), or other relevant NDT methods are highly advantageous.
- Strong background in NDT techniques, with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality.
- Proficiency with reporting systems is essential; high computer literacy is required.
- A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in NDT inspections.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards and codes (e.g., ASNT, ASTM).
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce comprehensive reports.
