AppliedKids is a child development center serving children, ages 3 months to 6 years of age, of Applied Medical team members. The AppliedKids child development center believes that learning emerges through children’s interests and interactions with their peers, adults and the environment. Position Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Support AppliedKids' daily classroom operations, including child and classroom record keeping and compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Follow all the child care licensing regulations and requirements including including the supervision of the children at all times by maintaining required teacher-child ratios.
- Collaborate with teaching team members to ensure that the quality of the program offered at the center supports the needs of Applied Medical team members and their families.
- Support the philosophy of AppliedKids and all its policies, practices and guidelines.
- Maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment that honors cultural diversity and follows the guidelines of the Infant and Toddlers Environment Rating Scale (ITERS), Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS) and Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS).
- Treat all children, their family members and team members with dignity and respect.
- Assist in implementing a planned educational program that meets the developmental needs of the whole child and responds to the individual needs and interests of the children.
- Engage the children in a variety of stimulating and developmentally appropriate activities.
- Understand the developmental level and family background of each child in the classroom by developing a comfortable and trusting relationship with families.
- Address and communicate any concerns, questions, or issues brought to you by families to the classroom lead teacher and the AppliedKids leadership team.
- Assist the teaching team members in creating documentation that complements children's interests and developmental goals.
- Protect the confidentiality of all records and information concerning children, their families and team members.
- Take a positive approach to conflict resolution with children and adults.
- Relieve the teaching team for breaks.
- Meet professional development requirements, per state regulations, to ensure the implementation of the best practices.
- Maintain flexibility and be willing to learn other duties as assigned by the lead teacher or AppliedKids leaders.
- Assist in performing general housekeeping tasks to ensure the safety of indoor and outdoor classrooms.
- Assist the classroom in food preparation responsibilities.
- Must have a flexible schedule OR ability to work a shift between 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. that changes quarterly and work overtime as required.
- Attend in-service and staff meetings.
- Substitute in a classroom for a full day when needed.
- Collaborate and interact constantly with the classroom teaching team.
- Interact with other team members in their own department as well as other Applied Medical departments.
- Must be a caring individual who enjoys teaching young children and working collaboratively.
- Must be in good health and physically and mentally capable of performing the assigned tasks.
- Must be physically capable of lifting at least 30 pounds.
- Must have the ability to act quickly and appropriately in hazardous situations and to provide first aid in emergency situations.
- Must be familiar with California Infant/Toddler Learning and Development Foundations and the Infant/ Toddler Curriculum Framework (preferred).
- Must be familiar with California Preschool Learning Foundations and the Preschool Curriculum Framework (preferred).
- Must be familiar with California Health and Human Services' Community Care Licensing Division Title 22, Division 12 (preferred).
- Must have knowledge of child development philosophies and practical applications.
- Must have and maintain a qualified Child First-Aid and CPR/AED certification.
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or similar field.
- Minimum of 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education plus 3 additional semester units in Infant/Toddler Units.
- Must be eligible for the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Child Development Program Associate Teacher Permit (or higher).
- Must pass a live scan background check and criminal record clearance.
- Must have the necessary immunizations to work in a child care facility: influenza, pertussis, and measles.
- Must pass a health screening, including a tuberculosis test performed by or under the supervision of a physician, to indicate the ability to perform the assigned duties.
- Preferred experience working with infant, toddlers and preschool age children in a child care setting.
