Position Description
The Associate Product Manager, Software plays a critical role in supporting the management and development of the Simsei Simulation product at Applied Medical. This position involves coordinating projects throughout various stages of the software lifecycle, including research, R&D, product launch, post-market activities, and field support. The Associate Product Manager, Software will collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product outcomes. The successful candidate will engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather insights, facilitate organized discussions, and contribute to the development of innovative solutions. Below are key responsibilities and attributes essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Life Cycle Support: Support various stages of the software lifecycle, including identifying customer needs, conducting market and competitive analyses, planning, roadmap development, user story management, smoke testing, product launch, implementation, and post-market activities. Research and identify opportunities for product expansion into the market.
- Technical and Clinical Understanding: Develop expertise in surgical simulation technologies and digital learning environments used for clinical skills development. Gain a comprehensive understanding of surgical procedures, equipment, and OR environments to inform product development and support.
- Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate activities such as meetings and milestone reviews, ensuring alignment and accountability across teams. Work closely with engineering, UX/UI, branding, and field teams to ensure high-quality product development and release. Build strong working relationships with healthcare professionals to inform product research and development. Actively contribute to the promotion of the Applied Medical brand and organizational culture.
- Process Development: Leverage tools like GitLab for product life cycle management and identify areas for process improvement. Contribute to documentation and create desk procedures to streamline product management workflows.
Performance Objectives:
Within your first 30 days:
- Complete all Standard Operating Procedures and Applied Learning foundational courses with a passing grade of 100%, demonstrating rapid integration into company processes.
- Complete product training courses demonstrating understanding of Applied’s medical devices and surgical procedures.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Simsei Simulation product and it's in applications in the classroom and surgical settings.
Within 60 days:
- Take ownership of at least one software project, ensuring progress to the next phase, demonstrating initiative.
- Assist in smaller software product development tasks while building relationships with relevant stakeholders.
Within 90 days to one year:
- Manage at least three on-going software projects of different sizes.
- Take at least one project from conception to release, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the entire software lifecycle process.
- Actively participate in team meetings and operations, contributing valuable insights and ideas.

Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment.

- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends.
- Ability to meet all hospital credentialing requirements, which may include background check, drug screen and vaccinations.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
