Position Description
As the IT Purchasing Specialist, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:
- Understand and comply with Applied Medical's Quality Systems (QS), safety rules and company policies.
- Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of Applied Medical.
- Learn the Applied Technology Services Business Processes.
- Obtain quotes, create purchase requisitions, and route signatures for the IT Purchasing team.
- Research and procure information technology (IT) hardware, software, and licenses.
- Work with IT team members to obtain cost centers to be charged for purchases and charge-backs.
- Collaborate with internal customers regarding requirements and support of technology purchases.
- Assist in developing and enhancing the processes for the IT Purchasing team.
- Create monthly purchasing reports for management and team members.
- Identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives within the ATS department.
- Act as a point of escalation for challenges, concerns, and ideas.
- Handle frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
- Act as a champion for the team in the larger IT organization.
Performance Objectives:
Within your first 30 days:
• Familiarize with essential repositories, tools, and Corporate IT Purchasing processes. • Demonstrate proficiency in understanding general and technology-specific terminology.
Within 60 days:
• Grasp Applied Medical and Corporate IT desired purchasing objectives.• Establish effective communication channels with relevant team members.
Within 90 days:
• Manage essential purchasing functions, demonstrate increased familiarity with overall purchase processes.
Ongoing:
• Monitor purchase orders through approval stages and provide status.• Improve purchasing practices and procedures.
Position Requirements
This position requires the following skills and attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent relevant work experience.
- General knowledge of hardware and software, including IT service desk, contract management, and copier vendors.
- Skilled with Microsoft Office 365, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel, and with Adobe Acrobat.
- Possesses outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and project management skills.
- Strong written, verbal and presentation communications skills.
- Adapt to changes in the work environment and manage competing demands.
- Work and remain calm in a fast-paced, pressurized environment.
- Perform multiple tasks and projects concurrently using exemplary time-management skills.
- Team player who works well with others and succeeds in a highly collaborative environment.
Preferred
The following skills and attributes are preferred:
- At least three years’ experience with technology purchasing.
- Familiarity with a variety of technical platforms and methodologies.
