Purpose
Conduct, manage, and grow basic and applied research programs in defense-related disciplines such as signal processing, statistical modeling, information fusion, underwater acoustics modeling, and target modeling and tracking in the Signal and Information Sciences Laboratory (SISL).
Responsibilities
- Conduct analysis, modeling, and algorithm development in various disciplines such as signal processing, statistical modeling, information fusion, underwater acoustics modeling, and target modeling and tracking.
- Manage research projects and support business development
- Prototype scientific algorithms for proof of concept, validation, and software implementation. Support performance evaluations and the transition of algorithms into next-generation demonstration and production systems.
- Convey the results of scientific research to sponsors and the scientific community through briefings, conferences, and peer-reviewed publications.
- Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in physics, math, computer or information sciences, engineering, operations research, or related technical area.
- Three years of experience in scientific algorithm development and/or scientific modeling and data analysis.
- Knowledgeable of the physics and mathematics involved in wave propagation in a physical medium
- Skilled in Time-Frequency analysis and familiar with signal processing concepts such as filtering, Fourier transforms, modulation, and beamforming
- Demonstrated ability in scientific experiment design and statistical analysis of experimental results. Familiar with stochastic systems, significance tests, and bias/variance tradeoffs.
- Demonstrated ability with MATLAB or similar abstract language.
- Proven ability to manage research projects.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, direct and perform advanced professional level applied engineering and/or scientific research projects in a specialized field
- Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision and effectively communicate with all groups of clients.
- Regular and punctual attendance.
US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree. in engineering, computer science, math, physics, engineering management or related fields.
- Familiarity with BASH, Linux Systems, and C
- Five or more years experience in scientific algorithm development and/or scientific modelling and data analysis
- Experience working with Government sponsored technical/scientific R&D or system acquisitions
- Acoustic data analysis and USW operational or intelligence experience.
- Experience working with high level fleet and technical program representatives across multiple organizations.
- Record of publication in scientific proceedings.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Salary Range
$104,000-$174,000 /negotiable depending on qualifications.
