We are searching for a Contractor Program Security Officer to join our team at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) for Penn State University at our Reston, Virginia location. ARL’s purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC). The successful candidate will be responsible for continuous enhancement and implementation of local security programs and procedures for classified information protection.

You will :
Assist in the development and administration of local security programs and procedures for classified and proprietary materials, documents and equipment in support of USG and DoD programs
Work closely with program leadership, sponsors, IA / ISSM staff, local security team members, and peers in adjacent business areas to ensure appropriate security support across multiple office
Coordinate with other local directorates and business area leadership to identify and support business needs
Assist in leading program security inspections and participate in security program self-assessment initiatives, ensuring compliance with security regulations prescribed by multiple USG agencies
Provide security support such as conference management, visit certifications, and support to programs as needed
Use your current security knowledge to advance your security career and gain expertise in all aspects of security program responsibilities
Apply a working knowledge of the NISPOM, Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs), and the sponsor’s amplifying Instructions to assist the day-to-day of the Industrial Security Program operations
Assist with implementation of visitor control, safeguarding, classification management, physical security, information system security, security education, Access Control, Alarm testing & maintenance, and personnel security for adherence to all government security requirements
Assist with the development, review coordinate, and executing Program Security documentation; including Fixed Facility Checklist, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Transportation Plans, Program Access Requests (PARs), and the Emergency Action Plan (EAP), Disaster Recovery Plan, Continuity of Business Plan, Document and Media Control
Assist in the management of electronic devices, the opening and closing of the facility, end-of-day checks, and daily inspections
Engage and collaborate with sponsor security staff to ensure program security policies and procedures follow company and customer requirements; while establishing and maintaining effective communications with customers, security staff, program leads, and departments management
Collaborate with other security staff for special projects as required
Assist with escorting, which may require support outside of normal business hours; as well as provide / coordinate after-hours alarm support
Assist the local COMSEC account manager for COMSEC policy implementation
Typically requirements include an Associate's Degree or higher; 5 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required skills / experience areas include :
An active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility
Experience in industrial security
Success in an office environment, where various forms of communication and organizational skills were crucial to be effective
Demonstrated strong customer service skills
Ability to manage and follow through on all open actions
Preferred skills / experience areas include :
Experience with government security policies, physical security and personnel security
Your working location will be fully on-site , located in Reston, Virginia.

The proposed salary range may be impacted by geographic differential.
The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is :
76,700.00 - $115,100.00
