Applied Robotics (ARI), headquartered in Glenville, NY, is a leading provider of specialized end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) and connectivity solutions designed to bring greater speed, flexibility, and efficiency to automation-based processes. Product sets include Tool Changers, Collision Sensors, Compliance Devices, Pneumatic and Electric Grippers, Palletizing Grippers, and Deburring Tools. These solutions are engineered to serve a variety of markets, including automotive, life sciences and manufacturing and can be found in material handling, assembly, cutting, dispensing, machining, and welding applications throughout the world.

Applied Robotics has an immediate need for an experienced Incoming Quality Control Technician. This person will have the primary responsibility of inspecting products at various stages of the production process, as well as compiling and evaluating statistical data to determine and maintain the quality/reliability of products.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs mechanical and visual inspection of a wide variety of incoming, in-process, and final assemblies, sub-assemblies, components and parts for conformance to; specifications utilizing various inspection checklists, inspection equipment, regulations, and standards.
  • Performs complete visual inspection on all parts and assemblies for workmanship, dimensional checks, tolerances, and usability, using various instruments such as micrometers and calipers etc., to ensure products meet specifications
  • Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications, rejecting and returning unacceptable materials
  • Identifies nonconforming material and initiate Nonconforming Material Report (NCR)
  • Calibrates and maintains measuring inspection equipment
  • Creates and maintains an accurate inspection logbook, to ensure inspection history on parts received are maintained; record all inspection results into inspection reports
  • Keeps accurate and detailed records in designated spot; completion of inspection reports in a timely manner
  • Ensures parts that have been inspected and “quality approved” are meeting specified requirements
  • Provides input when internal and external CARs are addressed
  • Provides input for drawings reviews regarding dimensions and tolerances
  • Continuous review of manufacturing processes and provide process improvements suggestions
  • Communicates Quality Alerts when applicable
  • Provides feedback to QC & Test personnel in order to generate improvement for run-off part quality prior to equipment “Sign-off”
  • Maintains knowledge of and follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act and policies as outlined in the Company Health and Safety Manual and OHSA and related regulations
  • Supports compliance with all company rules and regulations as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Goes to the vendor(s) site to perform an inspection is required
  • Additional responsibilities include; maintaining and organizing inspection tools and procedures for incoming, in-process, and final inspections
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Education/Experience:

· Mechanical Engineering Technology or Manufacturing Diploma (or equivalent)

· 3-5 years previous related experience is strongly preferred

· Proven skills in using calipers, micrometers, or gauge pins for dimensional calculation and analysis of items

· Ability to read and interpret part drawings, blueprints and/or written specifications is required

· Knowledge and understanding of geometric tolerances

· Professional written and oral communication skills

· Experience with an MRP/ERP system is required

· Able to work effectively within a cross-functional team

· Highly-motivated self-starter and able to work precise details in a fast-paced environment

· Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skill

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel
  • Coordinating Measuring Machine (CMM) and PC-DMIS software knowledge preferred
  • Interpersonal skills to work in a team environment to achieve goals and results
  • Good written, oral and listening skills to clearly convey and receive technical information

Additional Requirements:

· Strong external and internal customer service skills

· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.

· Strong knowledge of geometry and trigonometry, ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

· Ability to define problems, college data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

· Ability to Interpret a variety of technical instructions.

· Familiar with Computer Programs such as Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Lotus “Notes” and Made2Manage.
