Job Overview

Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a Manager, Analytics to join our talented and growing team in Corporate Data Services. We are on an exciting journey to scale our Data and Analytics capabilities to empower better data-driven decision making across the business. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a very curious personality. They must have hands-on development experience and the ability to see and shape the overall strategy for Business Intelligence and Analytics. The Manager, Analytics will play a key role in leading our efforts in strategic initiatives and accelerating insights and deep analytics to identify growth opportunities and reducing inefficiencies. The ideal candidate is someone with the mindset to enable self-service Analytics across Applied. 

What You will Do 

Strategy and Developing the Function 

• Translate our Analytics vision into actionable strategies and plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives

• Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, peers, and leaders across the organization to ensure effective stakeholder engagement and relationship building

• Communicate the value of data insights to non-technical stakeholders, emphasizing their impact on business decisions, and translate their needs into actionable analytics projects

• Keep up with advancements in analytical techniques tools and methodologies to strengthen analytical efforts across the organization

• Work on building the foundation to enable Predictive Analytics and Machine Learning

Projects Development and Delivery 

• Maintain and develop intuitive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI and Tableau

• Own the administration of business intelligence tools and create guidelines and best practices to enable decentralized Analytics model

• Optimize BI solutions and queries to ensure fast and efficient performance, especially when dealing with large volumes of data

• Create sufficient documentation for BI solutions. Provide training and support to end users to ensure they can effectively utilize BI reports and dashboards

• Evaluate and recommend modern technologies or techniques (e.g. natural language queries) to enhance reporting capabilities on structured datasets for faster time to insights

• Leverage UI/UX best practices and iterative dashboard developments

• Develop dashboard visual designs, reports, and presentations to communicate findings and visualize requirements

• Champion a data-driven culture of self-service that drives continuous BI solutions adoption with stakeholders through user-friendly features

What You will Need to Succeed 

• 5 years of in data analytics, with 2 years of experience managing high-performing teams. Strong preference for direct experience within SaaS

• Expert hands-on experience with Tableau and Power BI

• Proficient in data analytics techniques (e.g. data mining, data cleansing, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling)

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field 

• Ability to create compelling data visualizations and dashboards to communicate insights effectively to non-technical stakeholders 

• Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data analysis (e.g. Python, SQL, etc)

• Mastery of Excel for data analysis, including pivot tables, advanced formulas, and data manipulation 

• Strong leadership skills to inspire and guide cross-functional teams, setting a clear vision and fostering a collaborative culture 

• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex data insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Proficient with managing projects to ensure they are delivered on time and within scope and budget

• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to solve complex business problems using data-driven approaches

• Effective time management skills to balance multiple responsibilities and priorities

• Experience with design tools such as Canva, or similar would be considered a plus
