Description:
The Aerothermal Engineer will develop innovative designs to challenging engineering problems for a wide variety of applications including but not limited to aerothermal engineering. The Aerothermal Engineer will perform CFD analyses and hand calcs to verify and validate designs as well as to support research activities. The engineer in this role will work closely with designers and other engineers to support design updates to applicable hardware. The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, hypersonic flight environments, hypersonic lethality assessments, internal pipe flow analysis, and cutting edge CFD research.
- Perform aerothermal and flow analysis using hand calculations or appropriate CFD software tools to validate mechanical designs or support research activities.
- Perform numerical simulations for various applications including hypersonic flight environments, hypersonic wind tunnels, rocket engines, etc.
- Develop innovative solutions to real-world applications and research-based aerothermal topics.
- Develop documentation such as presentations, white papers, calculation packages, reports, etc.
- Perform review of design documentation from other ATS and third-party engineers.
- Present analysis results for customer review and feedback.
- Candidate may be hired at a higher level depending on experience and degree
Requirements:
- 5 years of relevant experience with a BS in engineering from an ABET accredited institution or related field
- Secret DoD Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret DoD Clearance
- Desired experience with STAR-CCM , OpenFOAM, CFX, FLUENT, CREATE-AV, Thermal Desktop, 6-DOF trajectory simulations, and other related CFD software and simulations.
- Experience applying engineering codes and standards such as ASME BPVC, ASME B31.3, ASME Y14.5, etc.
