DESCRIPTION
- Acts as charge nurse on shift assigned to lead and supervise all staff in providing care to residents and makes decisions in evaluation of resident conditions.
- Gives medications, including IV push and IV piggyback medications.
- Starts IV as ordered. (Only LPNs with inservice in IV therapy may start IV).
- Takes vital signs and records on medical record those required with certain type medications.
- Collects lab specimen and records results.
- Administers prescribed procedures such as enemas, etc.
- Provides for the physical and emotional well being and care of the residents.
- Participates and provides input to other ancillary personnel at weekly Medicare and care plan conference information that will further benefit the resident plan of care.
- Chart any information pertinent to resident and does weekly and/or monthly summaries as assigned addressing any resident needs according to the care plan.
- Provides and supervises administration of treatments using medications such as Decubitus care, G-tube care and Foley catheter care. All dressings are done using sterile or aseptic technique.
- Inserts Foley catheters using sterile technique.
Education/Qualifications/Requirements:
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Licensed Practical Nursing.
- Holds a current State of Georgia License.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.
- 20 hours of education every two (2) years by a Board approved provider in order to maintain LPN license.
Experience:
Prior experience in a long-term care facility preferred but not required.
