The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the accounting operations of the organization, including overseeing financial reporting, maintaining the general ledger, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and supervising accounting staff. This role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented individual with excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

We are looking for specialist preferable on the East coast in the DC area.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting :

Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Manage the consolidation of financial data for multi-entity operations.

General Ledger and Month-End Close :

Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.

Budgeting and Forecasting :

Collaborate with the finance team to develop budgets and forecasts.

Monitor actual results against budgets, investigating and explaining variances.

Compliance and Audit :

Coordinate external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.

Maintain proper internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Team Leadership :

Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, providing guidance and training.

Manage team performance and conduct regular performance evaluations.

Process Improvement :

Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and implement best practices.

Assist in implementing and maintaining accounting systems and software.

Tax and Regulatory Filings :

Oversee preparation and submission of tax filings (e.g., income, sales, property).

Ensure compliance with reporting requirements (e.g., 1099s, payroll taxes).

Ad Hoc Projects :

Support strategic initiatives, including M&A due diligence, system upgrades, and special analyses.

Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience :

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA).

Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.

Technical Skills :

Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.

Proficiency in NetSuite software and advanced Excel skills.

Key Competencies :

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a team.
