Instructional Leadership
• Shares curriculum leadership duties in collaboration with the Building Principal, Co-Assistant Principal,
Director of Curriculum & Instruction, and Curriculum Leaders
• Designs and facilitates building based programming targeting instructional and behavioral
approaches for all learners
• Coordinates Online Learning Program and Summer Online Learning Program
Educational Program and Services
• Assists in management, scheduling, and data analysis of state and district testing
• Coordinates and/or supports 504, BBST, ELL, and Special Education services
Curriculum and Learning
• Utilizes results of assessments to inform curriculum development and instructional practice
• As a part of a team analyzes student data, reports significant trends, and makes recommendations
• Assists in planning and execution of professional development activities
• Researches and shares curricular and instructional theories and practices
• Understands research-based practices in instruction
Supervision and Evaluation and Collaboration/Communication
• Assists teachers in classroom management concerns
• Encourages and assists teachers to communicate with families regarding learning and behavior
• Directs the orientation, supervision, and scheduling of substitute teachers
• Assists in class and various duty supervision as assigned
• Works collaboratively with school personnel to support teaching and learning
• Communicates with school community members, in both proactive and reactive forms,
regarding academic and behavioral matters
• Serves as a resource to community members, parents, staff and administrators, and students
Evaluates assigned staff utilizing the DESE evaluation rubric
Social and Civic Expectations/Behavior
• Supports students and staff in their support of the school’s mission
• Enforces school’s student handbook
• Addresses student disciplinary occurrences and impediments to learning
• Utilizes outside services (CRA, DCF, etc…) when needed
• Presents social/civic and disciplinary data and its implications to stakeholders
Management/ School Safety and Security
• Supervises common areas before, during, and after school
• Supervises daily attendance as well as any other daily function as assigned
• Assumes responsibility for student attendance and tardiness
• Attends IEP, 504, parent meetings, court appointments, and other meetings
• Develops, reviews, revises, and rehearses school safety protocols including has an understanding of ALICE training
General/Climate
• Enhances and perpetuates a culture of acceptance and awareness for all students and staff
• Assists in supporting opportunities for student voice and advocacy
• Works with Assistant Principal and Principal to design and implement necessary assemblies and school
events, including athletic and club events
• Assumes the administrative responsibilities of the building and all its activities during the absence of the
Principal, and updates the Principal on all happenings upon his/her return
• Supports/Supervises, as needed, school sponsored activities
• Carries out the policies and directives of the Freetown Lakeville School Committee and is directly
responsible to the Principal for their proper and effective execution
• Performs any and all other duties as the Principal may direct that affect the safe, educational
operation of the building
Required Qualifications:
• Massachusetts certification as Principal/Assistant Principal 9-12
• Master’s degree and minimum of 5 years successful high school teaching experience
Previous instructional and school supervisory experience preferred
Salary & Terms of Employment: As determined by the Superintendent, commensurate with experience. Employment is contingent upon job performance, program needs, and funding.
