Vacation will not be approved during the scheduled summer program dates. Any time lost due to staff absences may result in termination from the summer program and/or reduction in pay.
Teachers and paras will be paid according to a stipend. The stipend will be split into two pays (July 25, 2025 and August 22, 2025)
POSITION(s) OVERVIEW
Appoquinimink Summer Academy - Elementary General Education
Students invited to this program have been identified collaboratively between schools and the Teaching and Learning Department as needing further remediation, intervention, and support prior to starting the new school year. The focus of the program is literacy and mathematics. Students are instructed in an inclusive setting.
Positions Available: General Education Teachers, MLL Teachers and MLL Paraprofessionals
Appoquinimink Summer Academy - Special Education (Grades PreK-12)
Students invited to this program have been identified by their IEP team as being eligible to receive special education support as outlined in their IEP. Students are instructed in an inclusive setting. Special education staff will support students attending both the Extended School Year and 12 Month Programs.
Positions Available: Special Education Teachers and Paraprofessionals
Specialized Programs Summer Academy
Students identified in this program may have moderate to significant cognitive impairments or communication/social/behavioral needs, supports, and services as identified in their IEP. This is inclusive of students attending the RISE, Foundations, Skillbuilders, Changemakers, LCCE. and LIFE programs. Training and support will be provided.
