POSITION SUMMARY
Appreciation Homes is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their team.
This individual will have a wide range of responsibilities including coordination of outsourced professional services, including accounting, and IT development, and legal. We are seeking a candidate who has accounting, reporting, process management, and general legal experience. This individual must thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and be self-motivated with the ability to successfully execute corporate strategy goals.
This role reports directly to the CFO. This leader will be a high-level problem solver with a natural appetite to overcome obstacles. The ability to adapt and manage to dualling priorities will be key.
This position is 100% on-site in Dallas, Texas, headquarters of Appreciation Homes.
HOW YOUR POSITION DRIVES COMPANY PERFORMANCE
- Ensure financial statement accuracy and completeness by guiding, answering questions for, and reviewing the work of the outsourced accounting team at BDO in the monthly close
- Ensure monthly lease payments to property investors are accurate and timely
- Minimize tax preparation times by outsourced firm through timely preparation of data and quick responses
- Help secure debt and capital by providing organized and accurate due diligence materials
- Coordinate with outside legal counsel on preparing legal agreements
- Make minor amendments to equity & debt agreements
- Coordinate with accounting firm on tax preparation
- Oversee payables on Bill.com and process payments
- Occasional special project coordination
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5-7 Years of accounting experience
- Prefer 2-3 years of public accounting experience
- Real estate experience preferred
- Proficiency with accounting and reporting systems
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook, in particular)
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Attention to detail
- Advanced problem-solver
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Legal experience a plus
- Financial modelling experience a plus
- Outgoing, energetic, and positive attitude
