Job Duties
- Develop high-fidelity design solutions and detailed technical drawings for propulsion system components, ensuring all customer, performance, and manufacturability criteria are met.
- Apply expertise in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and mechanical design principles to engineer reliable, safe, and efficient propulsion components and subsystems.
- Provide technical oversight and lead comprehensive design reviews, verifying compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Perform tolerance analysis, geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T), and statistical assessments to validate mechanical designs and assure fit and functionality.
- Collaborate effectively with internal fabrication teams and external suppliers during prototyping, manufacturing, and validation testing phases.
- Evaluate and resolve production non-conformances and perform root cause analyses to ensure corrective actions are technically sound and sustainable.
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering professional growth, effective communication, and engineering excellence.
- Lead engineering change processes aimed at improving design robustness, producibility, and cost-efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related technical field.
- 4 years professional experience in 3D CAD modeling and design (Creo Parametric and Windchill PLM experience strongly preferred), OR a Master’s degree with 3 years relevant experience.
- Proven track record designing propulsion system components, specialized tooling, test fixtures, or related aerospace hardware.
- Comprehensive understanding of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, and treatments.
- Advanced proficiency in GD&T practices per ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Exceptional communication skills, adept at effectively presenting complex technical information across varied audiences.
Preferred Experience
- Previous leadership or mentoring experience within an engineering context.
- Demonstrated experience with propulsion systems or rocket engine component design.
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing environments and rapid prototyping.
- Ability to thrive in collaborative, cross-functional team settings.
