Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled CICS Administrator to manage installation, upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CICS Transaction Server environments. The ideal candidate will ensure system stability, optimize performance, and maintain security while adhering to SLAs.
Responsibilities
✅ CICS Administration & Maintenance:
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain CICS Transaction Server environments.
- Ensure system uptime, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
- Troubleshoot complex CICS issues, perform root cause analysis, and apply fixes.
- Manage SMP/E processes for software installation and maintenance.
✅ Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
- Monitor and analyze CICS performance using Omegamon, TMON, CA-Sysview.
- Read and interpret CICS system dumps for issue resolution.
- Utilize Tivoli and SMF data to create performance reports.
✅ System Optimization & Disaster Recovery:
- Design and maintain test environments for validation and optimization.
- Implement backup/restoration strategies and disaster recovery plans.
- Ensure compliance with security patches, upgrades, and best practices.
✅ Collaboration & Process Improvement:
- Work in a multi-geo support environment to provide 24x7 support.
- Define and document processes to improve efficiency and adherence to best practices.
- Train and mentor team members, bridging skill gaps.
Required Skills & Experience
✔ Minimum 7 years of experience in CICS L3 support.
✔ Expertise in building, configuring, and upgrading CICS regions in a production environment.
✔ Strong knowledge of CICSPlex Web-User Interface and MRO environments.
✔ Hands-on experience with:
- SMP/E for maintenance and software fixes.
- CICS dumps reading & troubleshooting.
- Tivoli, Omegamon, and TMON for monitoring and analysis.
- CICS disaster recovery and migration activities.
✔ Experience with third-party tools like Abend-Aid/CICS, Xpeditor, CAFC, and MacKinney Batch.
Nice to Have
Familiarity with IBM Assembler language for debugging and analyzing dumps.
Experience managing CICS, CPSM, and CTG projects independently.
Knowledge of Sun/VERITAS/TSA clusters and storage management techniques.
Soft Skills
Strong communication & documentation skills.
Ability to handle unforeseen situations and critical incidents.
Proficiency in MS Office (Project, Visio, Excel, Word).
