An aerospace client is looking for a Destructive Physical Analysis Lab Technician who will work under the Electrical Component and Material Lab (ECML) section.
The successful candidate will support the DPA Lab by performing DPA testing on a wide variety of electronic components (passives, actives, connectors, hybrids, IMAs, COTS).

Position : Destructive Physical Analysis Lab Technician
Pay Rate : $43.40 / hr. on W2
Duration : 6 months or longer
Schedule : 9 / 80
SCOPE OF PROJECT :
This position will be focused on performing Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA) on electrical components such as capacitors, diodes, resistors, connectors, Printed Wiring Boards, and multi-circuit units.
The selected candidate will be assigned primarily to either cross-section (metallography) or Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) analysis and may support other types of work such as visual inspection, decapsulation, or bond pull.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- A typical day for the selected candidate would be working in a lab environment performing DPA tasks, typically reviewing specifications, performing cross-sections, analyzing parts on the SEM, and helping create test reports.
- The selected candidate can expect to work on a variety of electrical components, which will make each job they work on a little different depending on the test requirements.
- The selected candidate will be working on a team with technicians, engineers, and planners.
- This person will also likely need to correspond with internal customers (engineers) on how to perform testing.
- Conducts experiments and tests involving wafer, electronic, electromechanical, mechanical, optical, hydraulic, metallurgical, vacuum, or chemicals within fabrication or processing laboratories to support engineering and reliability analyses.
- Evaluates new processes, components, products, and systems in conformance with engineering specifications.
- Isolates problems for further analysis.
- Collects and documents results, and generates reports.
- May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
- May design experiments.
- May be required to ensure correct functioning and identify any discrepancies.
- May advise operators and inform engineers regarding processes, procedures, and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- US Citizenship is required.
- At least a High School Diploma.
- 2 years of experience performing technician responsibilities in a lab environment.
- Metallography, cross-section, SEM analysis, or performing destructive physical analysis experience is ideal.
- Ability to follow test plans and work with hands.
- Technical reading / interpretation of specs and good communication skills.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Outlook) skills
PREFERRED SKILLS :
- Experience working at a DPA Lab or electronics failure analysis lab environment
- Experience with Mil-Std-883, Mil-Std-750, Mil-Std-1580
- Experience with Destructive Physical Analysis Lab equipment (such as microscopes, bond-pull, die-shear, SEM / EDX, cross-sectioning, etc.)
- Good verbal & written communication skills
- Detail-oriented
